The FURocious Summer Slam is a series of 3 free events put on by different race directors. Participants who complete all 3 events will be eligible for the coveted FURocious Summer Slam T-shirt and one participant will be honored as FURocious Summer Slam Grand Champion!
July 22, 2017 – The <TBD > 50k and associated runs (First race in the Summer Slam) – This event does not have an Ultrasignup registration unlike the other two. There is an event created on Facebook for it. This is the most relaxed of the 3 races. Just show and run!
- Time: 8:40am
Lake Baldwin Dog Park (Fleet Peeples Dog Park)
2000 S Lakemont Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789, Winter Park, Florida
About: 2.5 mile loop around Lake Baldwin. Unsupported. But there are a bathroom and water fountains on the loop. 11th race of the Candy-Ass Ultra runs so we don’t care how far you run…..unless you are doing the Summer Slam. Slam runners must do 50k. Bring refreshments for the party in the parking lot.
(1) a basic 50k (maybe a smidge longer).
(2) a shameless rip-off of Gary Cantrell’s run…..runners start on the hour to do 2 laps of the lake. Rinse and repeat. (Disclaimer-Mahoney wanted this format. He loves to win at Lake Baldwin. He has the best sash and sceptor collection in Florida outside Anita Bryant’s. Further, this thing could go long. I’ll bail around 5 p.m., but will come back for overnight if there is still a race going on.)
(3) the traditional Candy-Ass run.
